The good, the bad and the Mowie.

Thursday, April 12th, 2007

First off, Mac, Sunny and Mowie would like to thank The Zoo for introducing them to the Cat Blogosphere.  We’ve been super busy but we will get around to looking at all of our new friend’s blogs.  Afterall, we love nothing more than others to share litter box stories with!

And yes we know, it’s been a while since we’ve posted a picture or a video.  It’s coming.

In other news, ever since the boys were neutered a week and a half ago, Mac has been so well behaved.  Still cute and playful, just without the toe biting, smacking Mowie, wrecking the house behavior.  Sunny, however, has compensated for Macky’s goodness.  He is still running out the front door, pressing buttons on the laptop, shredding paper… all of Mac’s favorite past times.  It’s as if they switched roles…

Mowie’s happy with a hard belly rub and constant inflow of food.

We’ve been trying to tell Mac that since he’s almost a year old now he should act like a big boy.  We don’t mean we want him to lose the adorable kitten factor, we just want him to lose the annoying kitten factor.  We thought maybe he realized he’s growing up and would mature a little… but we were wrong.  Last night he was in full effect, pulling socks off of our feet, stealing things and hiding them under the bed and annoying Mowie in any way possible.

We love that cat :)

Kitten update

Saturday, March 3rd, 2007

Mac and Sunny turned ten months old this week.

:speechless:

Macky officially knows his name, whether he chooses to respond or not. Sunny responds to anything because he’s just a good cat. Mowie responds to the sound of a can of food opening.

The past month or so has been filled with frustration. Mac and Sunny desperately need to be neutered, but all of their health problems have prevented us from doing so. Every week someone is on antibiotics for something. Lately it is the wretched mouth ulcers- we are currently awaiting the results of Sunny’s bloodwork to see if they can be diagnosed with some disease. We don’t know what that means, but we were told it’s nothing bad. We also don’t know what this means for the neutering plans. We should find out this week. :crosses fingers:

In the meantime, Macky screams his head off at the front door. Why? We don’t know. Sunny had a screaming stint, but he would actually run out the door. Macky doesn’t want to leave… he’s not stupid. The real world practically ate him alive the last time he was out there. He would never leave momma and dadda. Sometimes we open the door and ask him to leave, to which he looks at us as if to say “Are you crazzzzzy?!” In the voice of the kid from Big Daddy, of course.

Sunny has not been running out the front door down the 87 flights (ok maybe its 4 flights) of stairs of the condo as much lately, but he still gets the occassional run in. And let me tell you, we can’t catch that sucker til he gets to the bottom and realizes there’s no where to go. I think he has a girlfriend downstairs because on valentine’s day he was particularly eager.

Neuter countdown ___ days.

ps- we find out if mowie’s worms are gone this week. oh, she didn’t want us to talk about that on here. sorry mowie.

Improvements?

Saturday, September 23rd, 2006

There have been some improvements, I think, on the whole cats-getting-along thing. They’ve been doing something between the doors — I really wish I could justify it as being playing, but I still think Mowie is still a bit too much on edge to be considered playful. However, there’s no longer any hissing between doors, so I suppose maybe things are, in fact, getting better.

Macky, being the curious little guy he is, continually sticks his paws underneath the door trying to play with Mowie. In the past, you’d see Mowie get physically nervous and would often hiss through the door. But as of late, Mowie will follow the paw back and forth underneath the door — occasionally jumping on Mack’s paw or even swiping it with her own. She doesn’t seem too much on edge while this is all occuring, but you can see her tense up from time to time.

Because of these ‘improvements,’ we tried mediating a little group therapy session last night between gates. Unfortunately, it went quite like it usually does. Mac and Sunny up against the gates while Mowie hissing and trying to attack them. I don’t know if I’m being overly optimistic, but the hissing/attacking didn’t seem as bad as it once did.

Maybe this is just one small step in the right direction. Cheers.
