Catster

Saturday, November 25th, 2006

We found this awesome site, catster.com, which is like a myspace/facebook for cats! On it you’re able to make a profile for each of your cats, then they are clustered into your family. It is so cute, I wasn’t even done making their profiles and people were immediately messaging Mac, Sunny, Mowie or all of them! The profile questions are every question I could imagine the cats being asked, like how many lives do you have left? Of course we all know, Mac is down to 6. I thought I was the only crazy person out there, but seeing some of the messages the other cats have written to our cats (yes the messages are written from the cat’s point of view), I know I am not alone, nor as crazy as I thought.
If you think a cat is cute, you can give them treats which are temporary (of course they’re eaten!) or stars, which stay on your profile forever. Someone thought Sunny was cute so he got 1 star. Mowie’s currently winning the friend count with 38.

You can also search pets by name so there are 5 other cats named Macintosh, 67 named Sunny and only one other Mowie! If you have a dog, there’s also dogster.com and dogs can be friends with cats and listed as your family. I think this is the best invention ever. Better than myspace and facebook…combined.

On a serious note, there’s groups that help pet owners with different help topics. So everyone should definitely sign their pets up. Then add Mac, Sunny and Mowie as their friends :)

Mowie’s popular

The video of Mowie attacking the lap top bag (see below) has been viewed over 6,000 times on youtube! I knew we should have put her in a macandsunny.com t-shirt…

It’s getting to her head and she wants to move to L.A. where she’d get more paparazzi action. She thinks she’d be perfect replacing Nicole Ritchie on the Simple Life. Mowie loves Paris Hilton.

Party Cats

Wednesday, August 23rd, 2006

Let me tell you, Sunny was the life of the party on Monday night. He was roaming around from person to person — “play?” “pettt meee?” “make me go in circles!” are just some of his catch phrases of the night. At one point, Sunny decided to sleep in the middle of the living room. He was so entirely comfortable with everyone. Sunny certainly made us proud.

Macky was a bit different, but it was ok. He opted to stay in the bed room most of the night, but he never hid or anything like that. Macky played the role of sleepy cat on the bed. Through conversation with Macky, I found out that during the night, he didn’t want to seek attention. And instead, he wanted the attention to come to him. Sure enough, it certainly did! Many people made special bedroom visits to Macky. And he, too, made us very proud of him.

At one point in the conversation, I saw the mature cat come out when he said, “dada, when you home, I get all the attention, and..and, um.. last night, I wanted Sunny to feel special because he deserves it.”
