Macky, Mowie, and Sunny

Today, Mowie turned n + 1 years old.

In other words, we first met Mowie one year ago today.

The year started off rough and there were many times where we trying to pawn her off on others. We begged and pleaded, through emails, phone calls and personal visits. She was too good to go to a shelter (as all cats are) but too crazy to live here (as all our cats are). Yet there was something about her that kept us coming back for more. She has this way of staring at you as if she loves you so much, which I believe she does.

One year ago today, she ran to me as if I was her long lost friend and as if she knew I would love her instantly. She didn’t know me, yet she trusted me with her life, literally. She curled up on my lap just hours after meeting me, something to this day she doesn’t do with strangers. She was so desperate for love and just wanted affection.

Now Mowie lives a life full of love and attention and sometimes gives off a snobby vibe to visitors. It’s not that she doesn’t like you or want attention, you’re just not her mommy and daddy, and who could disagree with her that we are just simply the coolest people on earth :)

Not only do we feel we have given Mowie ourselves, but we’ve given her two annoying, yet adorable baby brothers. She may yell and smack them, but deep down inside we know she loves them. This was proven when we took her brothers to the vet to get neutered… as we put them in the cat carriers they screamed out to her and she looked back and yelled “theey don’t want to goooo don’t make theeeeeeem!!”

Or maybe she was just hungry.

Either way, Mowie will never be lonely again. Even when she is n + 35 years old, she’ll have a family that loves her, and doubles her weight with every passing year. (whoops!) Perhaps it’s time for a d-i-e-t.

So Happy Birthday* to the closest thing to a living teddy bear to exist, Mowie*

No, not here on the website. I mean, here at my condo. Not that he ever left. But he’s been here for a year.

Well, it’s been a full year now that we’ve had Macky. Shocking, I know, Isn’t it. You’re telling me.

Macky is quite the healthy cat these days (knock on wood) compared to when we first found him as well as the first few months. He has grown into such a wonderful cat with a wonderful personality. Sure, he gets into trouble every now and then, but who doesn’t these days? (Afterall, look what Sunny did a few days ago) He finally eats breakfast and dinner. Pooping is still abnormally high (it’s normal, I swear, we just like to amuse ourselves by saying Macky poops every second of the day). And he’s becoming quite the mushy cat — when he’s not pooping, not attacking mowie, not breathing nasty cat breathe on momma, and not biting our toes in the middle of the night. Oh, and when he’s not climbing up the curtains in the living room. Yeah, I’d say he’s really calmed down.

So, lets all say congrats to Macky for making it a full year under our supervision. I know it was rough, Macky, but you did it.

One last note, Sunny is coming up on a year living at my place, too. He deserves some congrats as well, but it’s not really quite a milestone for him. He’s won like, 9 consecutive cat-of-the-month awards. We’ve always expected him to be alive and healthy one year in.

As for the awards, Macky has really given Sunny a run for his money these last few months. Mowie, too. She often goes overlooked during the award ceremony because she’s always a wonderful cat. Macky and Sunny, though, yeah, they’re definitely brothers.

Despite all the odds and all the doubts going against him, Macky has lived to see his 1st birthday! It’s been a rough year for him, and the bookies in Vegas just lost a ton of money.

Macky plans to celebrate his birthday by not covering his poop in the litter box, stepping on Mowie’s head, and biting our toes through the sheets.  Pretty much, it’s a normal day for Macky.

And let us not forget that it’s Sunny’s 1st Birthday, too!  Sunny plans on celebrating his birthday by wearing a “I’m the Birthday Boy t-shirt,” staring at butterflies through the windows, and playing with his first chemisty set (he’s going to Princeton one of these days).

Oh, and a special Happy Birthday goes out to the many siblings of Macky and Sunny — they might be outside cats, but we still consider them family.

Tomorrow Mac and Sunny will turn 9 months old.

That’s 3/4 of a year, 75%.

It’s amazing how quickly they have grown up. That’s why it’s wonderful to have this site and look at the archives from June, August, even October and see how much they’ve changed. The two of them used to fit in half a shoe box together…now Sunny’s tail won’t even fit in a shoe box.

Their personalities are still the same as the little ones they had when we first met them. Sunny has always been super sweet and laid back, Mac is a little hyper and has the cutest facial expressions…they just have such adorable personalities.

Although they’re getting old, they still have this kitten naiveness to them, which Mowie doesn’t have. Or maybe Mowie has a good sense of judgement regardless. Even though Sunny is nearing Mowie’s height and length, you can still tell he is the younger of the two.

Brace yourselves for April 27, 2007 and the biggest first birthday party you’ve ever seen. Think super sweet 16…cat style.

Mac and Sunny turned 7 months old today! Just 5 months left of kittenhood :(

Well, Macky was the first one to the top of the new scratching post. Totally shocked me that he was able to make it up there with a healing broken leg, but then again, it’s Macintosh — I shouldn’t be suprised over things like this anymore.

But, but! Sunny just made it to the top, too! We move the pole to my bed room since the whole dvd thing (see previous entry) was a bit nerve racking. I heard some loud scratching going on, so I checked up on the babies. Sure enough, Sunny is on the top level with Macky right below him.

Sunny, being the alpha-male that he is, immediately started to boast about his achievement.

“I’m the king of the world!” screamed Sunny down towards Macky.

“Eat it, Sunny. I’ll come up there and pull you down!” yelled Macky.

Macky proceeded to bite at Sunny’s tail; he tried so hard to get Sunny down. And poor Sunny, just trying to bask in some form of glory over his brother, was holding on to dear life, as you can tell from the picture. I stepped in, though, as this whole rivalry is bound for more trouble.

Mac and Sunny turned 5 months old today!

They’re getting so big :(

Yesterday, Mac and Sunny turned 3 months old. Yes, 3 months. Time flies when you’re raising babies. If you haven’t wished them a happy birthday yet, I suggest you do ;) We plan on celebrating with some kitten chow cupcakes, nothing too crazy…they’re still babies after all. Maybe some pin the tail on the dog or something…
