I’m beginning to think that Macky fakes his illnesses just to go to the vet and get attention. The people at the vet LOVE Macky and flood him with attention. And I’m talking about more attention than when Macky poops and all you hear from Rebecca and I is, “holy shit! Macky pooped again!” as the room fills up with the smell of, well, Macky poop. They overwhelm him with compliments — how pretty handsome he is, how well he behaves (what?!), and how much of a lovable mush he is (somewhat true, atleast when he first wakes up in the morning).
The good news from the vet? Macky isn’t dying (sorry Macky, maybe a couple more life-threatening injuries will do it) . He apparently is prone to get these ulcers around his lips. Nothing too serious, but still something that needs our attention. There’s nothing that causes these ulcers — no, not even chewing on carboard boxes, Macky.
The bad news? Macky will more than likely suffer from these ulcers for the rest of his life. The vet stated that he’ll need cortizone shots for the rest of his life. At this point, my stomach sinks. Not because poor Macky will be getting shots like woah, but because I’m thinking, “fuck, I’m going to have to give him a needle every god damn day!”
Well, it turns out that the shots aren’t a monthly thing or any routine like that. And it turns out that I won’t be administering the shots to Macky, phew! Instead, it’s recommended that we just bring Macky in each time we spot his lips flare up again. The vet said it might be a monthly thing, could be a yearly thing, or might just never occur ever again.
My money is on, knowing Macky, a weekly thing.
Macky doesn’t appear in pain, which is great. The vet said that it probably just feels like a fat lip to him, but if the ulcers go uncared for, then he could encounter lots of pain. Regardless, he’s still the most hyper and most active cat in the house. He still jumps off of everything and anything, and still tries to climb up the shower curtains as often as possible.
So he’s been taking his antibiotics like a good little boy (I swear, he loves that stuff). His next vet appointment should be in a month when we get his balls cut off him fixed. But he won’t be alone, Sunny is due to be fixed as well.
