Happy Birthday!

Friday, July 28th, 2006

Yesterday, Mac and Sunny turned 3 months old. Yes, 3 months. Time flies when you’re raising babies. If you haven’t wished them a happy birthday yet, I suggest you do ;) We plan on celebrating with some kitten chow cupcakes, nothing too crazy…they’re still babies after all. Maybe some pin the tail on the dog or something…

Forgotten

Thursday, July 27th, 2006

No, No. Macintosh and Sunny did not forget about you. They’ve just been, well, busy — busy as in continually fighting with eachother until one cries, that is. I don’t know if they’re just kittens being kittens or what, but these two are always rolling around with eachother wrestling. It must hurt sometimes, I mean, Mac climbs all over me and his daggers really really hurt. Poor Sunny. It’s sad to say, but he probably gets beat up way too much. But I suppose such is life when you’re the good son. I mean, Sal used to beat the crap out of me when we were younger, too. But that’s another story.

That’s it for now, maybe we’ll post some new pictures tomorrow. Cheers.

Windows

Macintosh recently discovered windows and their views. He loves them.

Music Tastes

Thursday, July 13th, 2006

Apparently Mac and Sunny love falling asleep next to the subwoofer. Their music preferences are as follows.

Likes

  • Jack Johnson
  • Death Cab for Cutie
  • Jason Mraz
  • The Beatles

Dislikes

  • Eminem
  • 50 Cent
  • Michael Jackson

(Folks, relax, he’s mid-yawn; not pissed off. Although, Eminem does make me pretty angry. Shrug.)

Baby’s Mama Drama

Thursday, July 13th, 2006

So the time came when Mac and Sunny’s mom was looking to have more babies, if you know what I mean. Dad starting hanging arond again so we knew it was time to do something. A million phone calls later, I got some help from this nice lady at SNAP (Spay/Neuter Assistance Program), who was able to squeeze Suzy (Mac and Sunny’s mom) in at the SPCA of Monmouth County’s spay/neuter clinic. Although we love Mac and Sunny, as well as their 3 adorable, homeless siblings, which can be seen below ;), we definitely did not need anymore kittens running around this place.

Yesterday was the big day, so I dropped Suzy off at the SPCA in Eatontown, which forced me to get up at 6am. She was on standby, meaning she didn’t have an appointment, but if they had extra time they would perform surgery. Luckily she was spayed yesterday. She stayed there overnight and this morning, once again early as hell, I had to go pick her up. I got the general directions on how to care for her and found out she received her shots. She also got a cool tattoo in her ear so that if she’s ever picked up by animal control, they will know she was spayed and leave her alone. All that for $60, what a great program and friendly people, thank you SPCA :D

During their time without their mommy, the 3 kittens looked sad. When I checked them out in the garage last night they all stared at me, with sad kitten eyes, as if to say “Hey mean lady, where did you take our mommy!” I tried to explain it was for her own good, but I think they’re too young to understand. Suzy arrived home today and naive me was thinking she’d let me pet her since she’d be sore and doped up. Boy was I wrong. I opened the cat carrier and she ran like hell and then got very mad that the garage was closed up so that she couldn’t leave. Sorry Suzy, the vet said you can’t roam free for 4 days. I must add that Suzy is what they call feral, or a wild cat. I think the term is insulting, especially the first time we tried to bring her to the vet and she said “That cat is feral and I can’t handle her!” Psssh, you’re feral, lady! The SPCA said she was a good girl, but they deal with feral cats everyday. Even my super friendly cats Butchie and Rosie act like they’re getting murdered everytime they go to the vet for a check up, props to Suzy for being tough and not crying at all in the car.

When mommy got home, the kittens immediately starting playing. They were so happy to see their mom, although she just had major surgery. It seems like Mac and Sunny do the same thing. When we’re not around, they just sleep under the bed. The minute we come home it’s like kitten playtime. I guess they just like feeling safe like someone is watching them, whether it is biological or adoptive parents :)

Kitten Friendly

Thursday, July 6th, 2006

Two nights ago, I started the task of making my office kitten friendly. That is, creating a safe enviroment for Macintosh and Sunny with limited wires on the floor and limited dangling wires.

Zip ties, who would’ve known, are currently my best friend. Eight thousand zip ties later and my office is somewhat kitten friendly.

I think they’re actually beginning to enjoy the room. They love to cuddle under my desk — which was previously flooded with electrical cords just waiting to fry a little kitty. Now they find refuge next to the subwoofer for my speaker system. Yes, I believe my kittens love the vibrations of bass. They’re currently listening, and loving, Jack Johnson.

Of course.

Help our family!

Mac and Sunny still have 3 adorable siblings who are homeless. We want them to have lives just as great as Mac and Sunny do, but we need help. If anyone is interested in taking some (or all!) 3 kittens, please let us know. If they’re anything like their brothers, they’ll be great pets :)

ps- the orange one is Sunny and he’s not for adoption ;)

Learning

Sunday, July 2nd, 2006

Tonight, I noticed Mac picked up something new right before he decides he’s going to sleep for eight hours. Well, not eight hours straight. He usually wakes up 3 hours into his session to bite my toes while I’M SLEEPING, but that’s another entry for another time.

What did he do? He did that whole animal pre-sleep thing, you know, the paw thing. The “I’m going to scratch at the floor for a good ten minutes before I place my fat ass down to sleep.” You know what I’m talking about. Your pet does it.

Romeo, the greatest dog in the world, even does it. It’s an animal thing, a cute thing.
